About Preetha

I have been a math tutor for the past 6 years, working with students from kindergarten to high school. I can help students with all levels of math up until AP Calculus BC, and will create personalized study lessons and plans to ensure each student's success. I adapt to each student's needs and quickly respond to their learning styles, while trying to make their learning fun! I am currently a senior in college, attending UC Berkeley and double majoring in Computer Science and Economics. I have taken AP Calculus BC (completed in 10th grade) and AP Statistics in high school, Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations from a community college during my time in high school, and have completed topics such as Abstract Linear Algebra at UC Berkeley.

Mathematics is my favorite subject and passion, and I really enjoy sharing this with my students! I try to share my interest for the subject with my students and teach them the importance, applicability, and versatility of mathematics. Seeing students develop an interest in the subject and become faster and more well-versed in mathematical skills and problem-solving is the highlight of my work!

I have taken all math courses up until AP Statistics at my school (including AP Calculus BC). Additionally, I have taken college-level math courses from my local community college, as well as attended very selective summer programs specializing in mathematics. I have also worked as a math tutor at a local tutoring center, where I worked with over 100 students of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. I've taught students basic math skills such as addition and subtraction, as well as logical thinking and problem-solving. At more advanced levels, I have tutored students in geometry, complex algebra, and calculus as they enter high school.

About the lesson

I get to know the student's previous math classes and learning experiences and see how the student approaches and solves a couple of problems. From this, I can see where the student needs to improve or fill in gaps in their knowledge, and I create a lesson plan to help them learn this. As we start to go through this lesson plan, I constantly revise the lessons to best suit how the student learns in order to help them as much as possible.

My competitive rate for tutoring is $40 per hour. This price includes the ability to reach out to me throughout the week for questions and homework help and to receive corrections on completed homework, whether it be from school or the previous tutoring session.
