About Susan
I am a retired math teacher who taught at a community college for more than 35 years.
I love math and I enjoy making it easy
I have my BA in mathematics from Brooklyn College and my Masters in Math Education with a minor in mathematics from the University of Minnesota.
I taught at Middlesex County College for a total of 30 years full time and 10 years part time, I coordinated the Basic Mathematics program at MCC and have taught both developmental and college level mathematics courses. I have tutored many students, including subjects ranging from elementary school to statistics and calculus. I have tutored for the SAT and the ACT math portion privately and at a the Foley School that offers private tutoring to high school students. I am proficient in the subject matter and I am patient and offer explanations at the speed that is appropriate for the students with whom I work.

I do homework on the curriculum on which the student is currently working. I speak to the student about their concerns, finding out what topics have caused difficulty. I ask to see some class evaluations, (quizzes, tests, etc) to help gather more information.
I share my white board, enabling both the student and I to annotate. Once we begin a topic, I ask the students to do some sample problems. If need be, I reteach the topic from the beginning or try to fine tune the areas that are causing the problem. The student an dI work as a team.
