About Eric

I have always had a great aptitude with math, be it playing the around the world multiplication game as a first grader with my fifth grade sister's class, to taking and passing the AP Calculus AB&BC & AP Statistics exams for college credit, to completing a mathematics minor along with my industrial engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University. I am very detail oriented and understand how to break each math problem down into smaller, easier to understand steps to help any student improve their understanding of how to approach mathematics problems. As a father of two young children, one of which has special needs, I have plenty of practice reaching young learners, be it through games or outdoor activities.

My wife teaches privately as a music teacher and I started teaching students math following their lessons.

I have a B.S. in industrial engineering with a minor in mathematics. I have been working since my graduation in 2011 as a professional engineer. I am comfortable working with students with special needs, as a special needs father myself.

About the lesson

Students bring test prep or homework questions with them to tutoring and I work with them to problem solve the answers to these questions. I engage young students with math games, stickers and treats like m and ms. I understand the importance of a patience yet playful attitude when working with young learners. My methodological, step by step process to teaching helps my students to reach their goals as efficiently as possible.

I have worked mainly with young children but I also spend plenty of time at my industrial engineering job helping adults too

The right tutor is reliable and exercises good communication skills with parents and students. You have to have a patient attitude and be willing to meet the student where he or she is in terms of ability, interest and age.
