About Miranda
Certified Math Teacher in Missouri and Kansas. Currently employed by a public school district in Kansas City teaching 7th grade.
When I was in school, I was a struggling math student. Math was not easy for me and I did not have teachers who made time to check on me and my learning. Without that kind of teacher, I didn't feel supported. I want to be that teacher for my students. I want to give them what I didn't have growing up.
My favorite part of teaching is being a part of the, what I call, "lightbulb moment". The moment when a concept finally clicks for a student who has been working so hard on understanding it and the lightbulb goes off. Seeing that light shine in a student and knowing I had a hand in making that happen brings me more joy than I can describe.
December 2017 graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor's of Science in Middle Level Education 5-9 with a concentration in Mathematics and a Mathematics minor. Certified in two states, Kansas and Missouri, to teach math for grades 5 thru 9.
Completed a 4 month student teaching in the North Kansas City School district where I was placed in a 6th grade math classroom.
Within weeks of graduating college, I was hired by a public school district in urban Kansas City, Kansas where I teach 7th grade.
