About Gavin
With a diverse knowlege base and a love for teaching, I am confident that I can help any stuggling student. I have experience teaching and mentoring students of all ages and ability levels in a variety of subjects. Much of my tutoring work has been in mathematics, primarily algebra, geometry, pre calc, and statistics. I also have a lot of experience with standardized test prep in math, english and reading.
While my teaching/tutoring experience has focused on these areas, I also have a degree in Spanish, and I love helping new learners develop a foundation and expand upon concepts with experienced speakers. My masters coursework was in business administration, so I am happy to help with any coursework in basic business classes like accounting or economics.
I believe every student has the potential to learn any concept. Every student learns differently, and tutoring can be a valuable resource to help students with unique learning styles and learning disabilities. Through my experience working with students with learning disabilities and my time teaching abroad, I learned to identify areas of difficulty and explain concepts in a nontraditional way that focuses on the student's strengths.
