About Anshu

My teaching is almost always 1-on-1, and tailored to the specific needs of the student. I like to make sure that I don't simply teach the student in the way I know how, but to really understand how the student learns, and shape my teaching style to something more understandable to them.

I currently work at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in software development for aircraft collision avoidance systems. I have also loved teaching since high school, when I used to tutor pre-calculus and calculus. I enjoy helping people learn, and when students feel like they finally understand material, that's when I feel as though I've done my job correctly. I hope to impart some of my own experiences with these courses, and hope that I can be of as much help as possible!

It all starts with understanding how the student is willing to learn. There is no cookie-cutter formula to explaining things to a student, so the first thing is to understand how the student learns. Once that is established, formulation of a "game-plan" is the next step. Planning is essential to any sort of teaching, whether it be homework help or formulating a lesson plan.

I currently work at MIT Lincoln Laboratory working on software for aircraft collision avoidance systems. Prior to that, I completed my graduate and undergraduate degrees from Cornell University in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Throughout my engineering career, I've picked up a breadth of information in mathematics and physics that I would love to share with others. I was tutoring and TA-ing outside classes whenever possible.

About the lesson

Discussing educational goals as well as identifying common sources of issues in the subject area are keys to improving a student's understanding of material. I like to typically meet with the student to discuss these things and work out a strategy for going forward before I begin tutoring. This helps me understand the process with which a student works through problems as well as how they learn.

Students that typically like to get ahead in their classes seek out help from me. I've had a few students also ask for homework help, as well as students that have need to review material that has been covered in class.

I typically do $80/hr. I understand that some might feel as though 1 hr might be too much, but working through problems and understanding material takes time, and I'm willing to put in the work to making sure my students learn properly and efficiently.
