About Yanni

I am an undergraduate studying Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. I graduated valedictorian from my high school, and my cumulative GPA at college is 3.99. From my experiences in high school and college, I have gained a clear understanding and insights into basic mathematics, sciences, and language acquisition. I have been a private English tutor for 6 months, during which I custom designed teaching and study method for each of my students and tailored to their preferences and goals. I have a passion for education, and I want my students to succeed in academics. So I will do my best to challenge my students and bring out the best in them.

I started teaching as a way to utilize what I have and help others. I have spent a lot of time finding the best way to study STEM courses and to come up with testing strategies, so I really want to make the best use of my effort and experience and help other students save time and energy while achieving the same good results.

I have taken college-level Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Organic Chemistry. I have received As in all of the above courses. I personally really enjoyed understanding the concepts and applying them to problems, so I hope that I can help other students do the same.

As for teaching experience, I have been a private tutor for the past 6 months. I've gained plenty of experience in communicating with students and motivating them. I can be firm at times because I want the students to do their best and achieve their results in the shortest time possible.

About the lesson

I would first ask what they hope to accomplish in their lessons with me and what challenges them in their academics. It is also important for me to get a sense of my students' preferred teaching style - do they like to understand the fundamental idea or are practical examples more helpful. After the initial evaluation of their level, I would then design a teaching plan that best matches their style.

I have worked with students ranging from the age of 5 to 45. But the majority of my students tend to be middle school to high school age.

My pricing starts minimum at 20 dollars per hour. If there are grading needed to be done outside of class, the time taken to grade homework will also be counted.
