About Michael
I am a full-time employee of the Space Telescope Science Institute. My career is in astronomical instrumentation (with the James Webb Space Telescope, and Hubble Space Telescope). This means I spend my days writing code and doing science at the professional level. I use Python, math, and physics in my daily life, and am passionate about sharing what I know!
I have done a Bachelor's in both Physics and Computer Science, as well as a Master's in Astronomy. I spent some time tutoring while in college and spent 2 years as a teaching associate while in graduate school.

I like to get to know their situation. How do they feel about the topic? How do they feel about their current understanding? What sorts of things hold them up? From there I can alter how we go about the learning process. That may mean coming up with more interesting problems, or more engaging ways of presenting a concept.
Most of my experience tutoring is with college freshmen and sophomores.
For teachers of astronomy, math, physics, or computer science, the most important thing is that they love the subject, and are passionate about sharing it. Many tutors aren't very good at teaching subjects they are knowledgeable about because they don't even particularly care for it to begin with.
