About Jami
I have home schooled my son who has graduated high school now. I taught my daughter numbers, letters, alphabet, animals and their sounds, shapes, colors, and number of other things before she was even 2. With COVID issues, I have been homeschooling my 9 year old daughter for past couple years, who is a straight A student. I have actually tutored since I was in high school myself many years ago with fellow students, but I became more professionally invested while I was obtaining my bachelors degree in Business Administration and Accounting over a decade ago. One of my possible career options I wanted to pursue was being a math teacher since I was little and tutoring was one way to pursue it while also pursuing other career interests.
It began by a student talking about struggling in their math course and I volunteered to help them. They pulled their F up to a B before the class was over. Unfortunately, it was impossible by then to pull fully to an A, but she was ecstatic and sang my praises, telling anyone she could that saw might need help too. I did not charge anything at the time as I was just looking to help, but I had a family and it took up a lot of my time while I was in school myself. My clients insisted on paying me something and pressed me to start charging for my time in appreciation for the assistance they received.
As long as I have been hired at or near the beginning of a course, no client has received less than an A. If hired too late to get an A, I believe they at least got a B, but most clients I have gotten to help before they had gotten too far into course. I have helped with a wide variety of courses, including basic math, Algebra (my favorite), Calculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, Accounting(basic and advanced), College math, Labs that include math, and finance classes as far as mathematical subjects go; also occasionally non math courses like English courses and help on how to write papers. I haven't kept count of how many students I have taught, I know it has been at least a few dozen over the years. While a few students only needed help with a course or two, there have been many times I have continued to help tutor students until they graduated high school or college depending on whether they decided to continue to college or not, or were already in college.

I provide tutoring a wide variety of students, from primary all the way to college level classes; all you need is a willingness to learn. My techniques are determined by the course, time, and student. For example, small children might learn better with games while an older student might find learning through games to be silly. My method also changes a bit as I get to know the student and what they need. Some students require more thorough hand-holding, while others just need gentle guidance and knowledge they are grasping the concepts, such as showing an example and then letting them take the reigns. Most students generally learn well with the most general method used of showing example with explanation, doing some practice together, and then asking them to do some on their own. If this does not work well enough, then evaluation of where the struggle is occurring and searching for a better method for student to understand is provided.

Details
While standard rates have been given, they may rise or decrease a little depending on type of class and needs of the student and if more extensive travelling is required. However, use of email, word documents, sharing sites, and/or phone can also make lessons available online if student has reliable internet access and knowledge of these things or able to learn using them so that no travelling is required by either party. In person is easiest way to learn, but not always the most convenient. I have been trying to set it so it says I can do online teaching, but for some reason it won't show up, but I do offer it and even prefer it as I can reach more people, especially in these COVID times.
