About Angela
My name is Angela. I have a BA in psychology and Christian ministry ( double majored). I have been told I have a gift for relating to young children pre-k through about 3rd grade. I try to find, playful, creative ways to keep those I tutor engaged and enjoying the material.
I have a certificate in “ academic coaching” ( general tutoring skills) from Saga Education which is connected with AmeriCorps. In practical terms, this means I have been shown the basics of how to prepare lesson plans and engage with students.
Although I don’t have any teaching certifications, I have had a wide array of opportunity that have given me a wide base of hands on tutoring experience.
I have had experience tutoring reading and writing for k-3 students. As well as helping college friends with basic algebra.
After my Spanish classes, I was nearly fluent and in the third year I tutored students who were in Spanish 1.
So,I could likely help with basic Spanish as a second language although I would need to review the subject myself somewhat first.
Moreover, I did an internship in which I tutored autistic kids in basic topics like shapes and colors using a method called discrete trial training.
I am also very comfortable helping students learn study skills that will make studying easier and more fun.
