About Sophia
Hello! My name is Sophia Ruser and I am a dedicated and experienced tutor. From a young age, I have had a passion for teaching and helping others learn. As a Cornell University student majoring in Biology and Society, I have a strong academic background in sciences, as well as liberal arts subjects like French and history.
Throughout high school and college, I have been actively involved in tutoring, volunteer work, and educational programs. I taught violin lessons and tutored refugee children through the Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services organization. I also served as a summer learning program teacher, helping young students ages 4-6 develop their English skills and academic preparedness. Additionally, I have experience as a violin instructor, providing private lessons and performing locally. This past semester, I was an Ignite Fellow at Teach for America.
My leadership roles, such as being the team captain of my high school fencing team and the president of music clubs, have honed my ability to motivate and guide others effectively.
