About Christie
My name is Christie Lee Taylor and I have been teaching for 10 years. I have taught grades K-4, 2nd grade Special Ed., and I am now currently teaching 6th grade Special Ed. in ELA. My speciality is in reading and writing! I have great enthusiasm for teaching students the basics of reading and writing and can re-call some of my proudest moments when teaching some of my younger students how to become proficient readers.
With that being said, my experience in the younger grade has helped me in guiding students in the upper grade levels (4th to 8th). I work with their comprehension of extensive texts, essay composition, and effective test-taking strategies applicable in various settings. As a 6th grade Special Education Teacher, I have honed my ability to adapt the curriculum to suit the specific needs of my students.
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Scranton and obtained my Master's in Education from Touro College. Currently, I hold teaching certificates in New Jersey (grades K-6) and New York (grades K-6). I actively encourage students to set goals and welcome open communication with parents or guardians for constructive feedback.
