About Sarah
Hey, I’m Sarah! I have a bachelors degree in Community Health from Tufts and an MPH in Epidemiology & Biostatistics from the Tufts School of Medicine. Throughout my education and now during my career in healthcare consulting, I’ve found myself happiest when I have also been able to teach!
I love working with students to help them reach their goals and I’ve been fortunate to teach in a variety of settings throughout the last nine years. I taught Algebra II to high school students at an elite boarding school in Switzerland. At Tufts, I taught a class for college students about health communication and policy. As a private tutor, I have taught students ranging from age 9 to 22 in math, science, and standardized test prep. I designed the curriculum and led an innovation focused medical internship program at an academic pediatric medical center. When teaching at a specialized reading center for children with learning disabilities, I was awarded Clinician of the Year.
Though I have covered multiple subjects throughout the years, my favorite to tutor are standardized test prep and middle and high school math. My approach to tutoring is highly personalized to my student, and always leans on a strong foundational understanding of key concepts and how they fit together – that way, no curve ball in a test environment can truly throw you off. For test prep students, we will also cover strategy, timing, and how to decode a question quickly to pinpoint exactly what it’s asking.
This approach has helped multiple students improve their confidence and performance; past students have jumped two full letter grades in math and over 20 percentile points on the ACT. I share the same tools and skills that helped me score in the 99th percentile for ACT (34 overall, 34 in each section) and GMAT (770, personal best 51 quant & 48 verbal).
