The most satisfying and rewarding I enjoy seeing someone who has never been on the water before and starts out a lesson petrifide, complete the lesson with a huge smile and on their face and beeming with confidence!
I worked with a local sailing school in the Seabrook, TX area for several years that offered kayak lessons and led tours. They needed a certified Instructor and I was looking for some weekend work to keep busy down in my area. I have a full-time job M-F in the city.
I am an ACA Kayak Instructor who works primarily with beginners.

First off, I like to find out what the student is looking to accomplish. If it's technical, I can do that, but typically most people are simply looking for the basics and for assurance that they can do it! There is nothing more gratifying than to see the confidence level of a student from the start to finish.
Mainly beginners and intermediate students.
Don't be nervous! Adults tend to overthink things--this is FUN, and you'll do just fine! In fact, if you stop thinking so much--you might even enjoy yourself! The great thing about kayaking is that you get a new perspective on places in nature that most people never get to see.
I also work with a kayaking school and retail center in Spring, TX who regularly works with Texas Parks and Wildlife at both the BOW (Becoming an Outdoor Woman) and Baytowns Nature Centers "Nuture Nature" events. I have taught the kayak portion of both the last few years, and love it!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think through what it is that you're wanting to get out of the class and how I can help you best. Make a list of what you'd like to learn, and any questions you have about what type of boat, paddle, PFD is best for your needs. Details
It depends on length of the class, and if it's private or a group. I'm also happy to lead tours
Private: $125 (1.5- 2 hours), plus boat unless you have your own.
Group: $75 per person, min. 2 people (2-3 hours), plus boat unless you have your own.
Tour: Depends on location, length, group size.
