About Sam
Hello! I am an experienced tutor across a range of subjects, and my specialities are French and Politics and supporting students with learning disabilities. My goal as a tutor is to empower your student to learn how to learn: give them tools to ask questions and investigate their own education in order to better prepare for their future studies and lean into their own curiosity. I have worked both as a private tutor and in schools, so I understand the challenges to learning that students can face in a traditional classroom environment, and I approach tutoring as a way to both supplement classroom learning but also help your student to find new ways to engage with their learning at school. Politics: I have found that for many students studying Politics for the first time, connecting theory and concrete examples is one of the biggest challenges. As your tutor, I will help you better identify examples and connect your learning to the real world. This will not only set you up well for exams, but help you to better understand real world Politics. French: As a native English speaker who has spent years learning French including living and studying in France, I know the specific challenges that come with learning the language. Traditional foreign language teaching in schools leaves a lot to be desired, and I want to help you to find new and engaging ways to learn about the language. Supporting Students with Learning Disabilities: I have worked for years in SEND settings supporting students and as a teacher. I have specific expertise supporting students with ASD, ADHD, and other complex learning needs. My speciality is identifying new learning strategies for your student to better ensure their future success in learning. I worked with Sam for a number of years in an inner London SEN school. Sam is a gifted practitioner, who is able to communicate with the most complex of students. He is student-focused and delivers quality, well thought out and meaningful lessons. He is an extremely personable young man, who is delightful to work with. He has a can-do attitude and is able to adapt himself at a moment's notice. It is a pleasure to be able to recommend him to you.
Sam B is a caring and diligent teacher, successfully leading lessons across the curriculum at Cambridge SEN School in London where we worked together for 2 years. Sam demonstrated great expertise in differentiation and actively worked to identify pupil’s individual needs through formal and informal assessment. My role was Class Lead Teacher, directing a team of six Teaching Assistants in a class for students with Autism Spectrum Condition and severe learning difficulties. The English lessons Sam delivered were impactful and clearly linked to curriculum with interesting multi-media resources, examples and models. Sam designed effective student-led learning tasks that suited the special learning needs of the students in my class and were well differentiated for a wide range of reading and writing levels.
