About Dennis

I have a passion and a fire to educate. I love and breathe history and love sharing my passion with my students. Either in a classroom or in a casual setting.

I have over 20 years in the career and numerous success stories helping students pass state exams.

if I was a head coach in a sport I would have numerous rings on my fingers with the success Inhave helped students achieve.

Certified in Social Studies and Special Education, I help make learning more personable and comprehensible for struggling students. I help build on a students "weakness" and make it a strength.

Back in 2000 when I started as a Teaching Assistant/Sub. I worked with individual students who had needs and quickly established myself as a reliable member of the school community. Within a year I was hired as a full time educator due to my experience working with students and being a cooperative staff member for the school community.

I have worked over 20 years in a tutoring capacity from Grade School to College Level and even exams not related to academia (licensing exams and citizenship ones are examples of a few).

I even have experience helping a student pass their math exam in NY state even though I was not licensed in math.

For me it is about forging a strength of the student and adding to it.

About the lesson

I make the first session of understanding where the student is struggling. Next I work on adapting a plan based on their learning style and work accordingly with that. So for example is someone more auditory versus visual.

I will help to employ materials and preparation kits that will help with their style and establish the baseline.

From elementary to high school. HS is my specialty as I have taught there for over 15 years.

Make sure you find someone who has a passion for the subject and not someone looking for a quick buck. You'll remember the passionate one more than you will just passing an exam.

Taking my son on a walking tour of Boston and making a goal tracker for the historic events and places during our time there.

I employed several of my photos from that into my lessons about colonial era America and the American Revolution for my own students use. Helps them put a picture to the places we are discussing or describing.

Pricing can vary depending on needs. For simple test prep I can charge a flat rate per session. If extended tutoring is needed prices can vary.
