About Mary Kate
I value a really hands-on approach, with periodic verbal quizzing throughout a particular topic, as well as using real-life examples from other areas of study and work that can help draw memorable distinctions. My philosophy is to help students retain, not memorize, information; this leads to a more cumulative wealth of knowledge that lasts years beyond a one-semester or full-year course.
I have always loved learning, and love being able to help instill that passion (even in a small capacity) in others; I graduated cum laude from high school in 2015, magna cum laude from a small, private university in 2019, and am currently in law school. I truly believe that learning is something we should all aim to do our whole lives - there's never a point in time where you should stop trying to learn!
I have a high school diploma (I graduated cum laude from Archmere Academy in 2015), a B.A. (I graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University Maryland in 2019), and began pursuing a law degree (from the Catholic University's Columbus School of Law) in the fall of 2019. Throughout my extensive experience and success as a student in various high-pressure academic settings, I have refined my teaching and studying skills, and am so happy that I am able to share them with others!

My typical process starts with a very general assessment - once I get a feel for what the course/subject/exam looks like, I always like to begin by asking "What can YOU tell ME about XYZ?" It's so important to me to teach from a place of understanding; I need to know what my students know already to figure out what they don't know, and what areas to work on with them.
