About Aditi

My academic background has qualified me to help students with a variety of course materials, ranging from modern American history to advanced Ancient Greek language. My personal research interests lie in the ancient world, though my love for history pervades all time periods. I have extensive knowledge of pre-modern history, ranging from Greek and Roman history to the history of the Middle Ages through the present.

Academic History: I have a BA in Classics from Boston University, an MA in History from San Diego State University, and am halfway through my MA in Classics at CU Boulder. I plan on pursuing my PhD in History after I complete my time at Boulder.

As a graduate student in San Diego, I tutored student athletes while also being employed as a Research Assistant in the history department. Furthermore, I served as a Grading Assistant for multiple undergraduate history courses (Western Civilization and World History), as well as a Teaching Assistant for an American History course. Finally, I performed grading services for an AP History course taught at a local San Diego high school.

At CU Boulder, I have acted as a Teaching Assistant in both the Italian and History departments, aiding with a Humanities course as well as an Italian History course.

Beyond history and the humanities, my forte as a tutor lies in writing and rhetoric. I am happy to work with students on both routine assignments and larger projects, including college application essays and research papers.

I love helping students expand their critical thinking skills, learning how to distinguish between the subjective and the objective. Students today are inundated by subject material yet often struggle with their analyses; determining an author's objective, determing fact vs. fiction, or simply establishing the value of a piece helps students form thoughtful considerations for the words of others. These skills are critical in the study of history; assessing pieces of historical evidence requires critical thinking skills that can only be fostered through active engagement with the material. The joy of studying history is being able to question history, and discover what really lurks beneath the pages of our textbooks.

In the realm of general liberal arts, I believe that it is imperative for students to learn how to express themselves through writing, whether at a high school or college level. Words have immeasurable power and influence; I believe I can teach students how to understand the meaning behind another's words, while exploring the power of their own.

Began working with students as a graduate student at San Diego State University.
