I'm relatively new to tutoring, but I pride myself on being able to make history fun and interesting for people who normally don't enjoy learning about the past. My personal history passion is the Medieval Era of history, particularly the Vikings. However, I am also well versed in American History and Ancient History.

The most important aspect of history, in my opinion, is how it can be interpreted in many different ways. A common saying is, "winners write the history," which is true in many ways. It's important to look at historical events from different points of views and draw conclusions based on putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together.

My Qualifications:

I have a bachelor's degree in history from West Liberty University. Along with that, my minor is in Medieval Studies. I was named "History Student of the Year" in the fall semester of 2017 at West Liberty University. Along with success with history classes, I also took a number of law classes that had specific sections based on the Constitution of the United States.

I have a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in Medieval Studies from West Liberty University. I was also named the "History Student of the Year" in the Fall semester of 2017.

I also have more experience in tutoring high school/college aged individuals, but I also have helped younger children (friends' kids) in other areas other than history. I believe this taught me patience which will transfer into my tutoring.

About the lesson

Depending on what the tutoring is for (specific assignment or class overall) I prefer to have a student explain the/an assignment to me so I can gauge how they feel towards the assignment and how they think about the assignment. This is important because once I have a baseline of their interest and understanding then I can figure out how to make the lesson more interesting for them. History is not a memorization of facts. History is using facts to understand society and hierarchy during different eras of humanity. So there are times when we will not focus on the assignment at first, but the time period in which the assignment may ask about. The goal should never be to just get a good grade, but to understand why history matters and how to think about it on a larger scale.
