About Matthew

Having started working in education in 2019, I am very experienced with working with inner-city youth and students who just need a little extra help. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston with a degree in Sociology and Political Science. I have been an employee at Boston Public Schools, working as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional. I recently moved to Brooklyn, where my wife is from. I love to be able to instill a love of learning in my students. Being around inquisitive and curious young minds is very inspiring and motivates me to be an even better educator for my students.
I first got started teaching, working for Boston Public Schools. Prior to this, I had jobs involving the training and educating of new employees. I come from a long line of teachers and educators in my family which has inspired me to take a similar path.
I recieved my Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Political Science. I have always had a big interest in History, Georgraphy and Social Studies in general since a child.

When working with a new student, I like to identify what areas they need help in and establish a plan to get that student on the right track. If there is a specific goal in mind for the student, we will work tirelessly to ensure that goal is met.
While working with Boston Public Schools, I taught for a very diverse group of children from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, and who faced many different learning challenges. I have experience working with special education students as well.
