About Carol
I have taught piano for over 25 years. I enjoy discovering how each individual student learns and aim to connect with what they enjoy. My goal is that the student blends their playing into their daily life, playing for friends and family. I do not enjoy competitions and recitals, and do not ask my students to do them. I am open to having an end-of-year party and playing for each other.
I started teaching a friend's two girls and found I enjoyed it.
I took piano from age 9 until college. In high school I was playing classical piano up to 4 hour a day. In college, I took music theory classes. Later, I taught myself to play by ear, so I know both approaches.

With a new student, first I would ask them to play any song they know and ask them if they have an idea of what they would like to learn. Then I would find an age-appropriate music book to work from. I don't just use one brand. I also use Noteworthy software to print out songs.
I have taught children as young as 5 all the way to adults. I have also taught students with learning disabilities.
Already enjoy hearing music before you learn to play it. I can't teach you to enjoy music.
I had a student several years ago who wanted to learn classical piano. That was very enjoyable.

Details
I charge $15 a lesson. If there is more than one student, I charge $10 each for the rest of them. I usually go to the student's home.
