About Michael

I've been passionate about music since a young age, and I would like to share my love and appreciation for the art with others. From learning the structure and theory behind it to discovering new ways around the neck of a guitar, you would be able to find your own voice as well as understand the form of western music through my lessons. I'm currently a music major at Bergen Community College and was in every music group in my high school, including their jazz band, select choir, and more. Out of school I'm the singer/guitarist of Hidden Figures (Instagram and Facebook is hiddenfiguresband) and was even chosen to be in the PMEA's All-Eastern Choir. There's so much to enjoy about playing music! I've always loved the feeling of being on stage and sharing music with others, and would love sharing the thrill of playing music with others by teaching. While the science behind music maybe be sound waves at different frequencies, to our human ears it's much more than that. Learning how to play an instrument or sing properly provides you with not only a sense of accomplishment and expression, but a greater understanding of how to overcome something.

In my high school career I was in every music group offered which taught me performance as well as musicianship skills, and took AP Music Theory my senior year. As of fall of 2019 I'm also a music major at Bergen Community College.

About the lesson

The first class would be dedicated to getting to know the student as well as his or her playing or singing syle. I would then decide based on how much or little they know what to teach them that day and move on from there.
