About Michael
Playing, teaching, writing, custom guitar building, music workshops, leading worship, and more. I have poured all of my heart into music over the past 10 years. If your goal is to go further into your skills of music or have a custom guitar built, Please drop by my website at refiningchampions.com.
I enjoy seeing someone acheive goals that they never though was possible. It is amazing to see someones face light up after they play a song for the first time.
My mom encouraged me to give it a try and thought it might be a good direction because of my love of music. After teaching a few students for the first time it was like I was made to teach. It is now a passion of mine. Thanks mom!
I went to Lamar University and had extensive training in classical, jazz and contemporary music. I decided to stop going since I received a job as a worship pastor doing exactly what I always dreamed of!

We go through the basics first. After they get the first few chords down we learn a song as soon as the first lesson.
I have worked with every age, background and different levels of students. If they are willing, I will work with them.
Acoustic or electric? the age old debate, I suggest you go with the instrument that suites your favorite styles. Electric is easier on the fingers but stylistically can get challenging. Acousitc is harder on the fingers but stylistically can be easier. They both have their challenges and ease of playing. Just get one you can afford and lets jam!!!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I believe the guitar is a dream instrument. Think about it, what do you want to become? I always ask my students these questions:What band do you like the most? What is your favorite type of music? Do you want to be a famous, successful, or hobby musician one day?
