About Gage
Hey, I am a guitar teacher born and raised out of Oklahoma and California. I've spent over a decade playing all different genres and styles of music and I am a never ending student of the guitar, so it goes. I would like to extend the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years to students with the same passion for music. Wanna play the blues? Country? Death Metal? Jazz? I gotcha!
I love teaching guitar because I also enjoy learning and progressing in it. So there is still so much to relate to the student there. I am still just as much a student as my students, and I still learn new things everyday. To see that process outside of myself, and being the cause of it, is awesome!
I started teaching some band mates of mine back in California not too long ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I figured since I was able to give them a good working knowledge of the guitar I should continue to teach regardless of whether it pays or not. Music is priceless and I enjoy what I do.
I have been playing guitar for over a decade as well as having played bass, drums and piano. I even taught myself how to sing! I learned from almost all styles of music and have even studied some classical music. I have a solid knowledge of practical music theory that is easy to understand and apply to song writing and improvising. Basically, I know a little bit of everything but most importantly know how to train a thoughtful musician.

I assess the current abilities of the student and get to know their taste in music and their goals before formulating a plan for them, but generally speaking, I would start a beginner with very simple exercises that allow them to develop the manual dexterity necassary to play.
Mostly beginner students, some young kids and some adults, and a few intermediate players here and there.
My advice would be to allow me to teach them and if they find that they enjoy learning from me, then we can continue on. If not, I won't make you pay dime.
I taught my brother the c major scale and it's relative minor, how to find the relative of any major key, and finally how the major scale is simply a pattern that can be moved "up" or "down" to suit any key. As he was beginning to see the simplicity of the major scale and how patterns are worked and used along the fretboard, and how we make chords from those notes, his eyes lit up and he said, "Oh!" I saw that he realized and grasped that very simple bit of theoretical knowledge and now was able to use it practically. It's an awesome thing to give someone a gift like that because it can never be returned and will always assist and influence the thoughtful musician.

Details
I generally 40 for an hour and I don't do 30 minute lessons unless the student is at an intermediate level of playing. Usually I try to meet the student for a free consultation and lesson to figure out the music taste and goals of the player, that way I can formulate a lesson plan that fits the students need and above all, is fairly priced.
