About Nick
My philosophy on guitar lessons is to get my students loving and enjoying the guitar first. The theory and learning note and chord values will come- but that was never what made me fall in love with playing guitar. It was the songs! As a self-taught guitarist of 15 years and gigging for 14 years, I strongly believe in teaching the fundamental, intermediate and advanced techniques and know-hows of guitar in nonconventional ways.
I mold my teaching style according to how my students learn so that my lessons are tangible and fun, rather than focusing on strict lesson plans that feel more like chores than getting to enjoy the guitar. Enjoy is a key word- my goal is to help my students not just be good at guitar, but to really like it too!
Over the years, I've had people approach me for guitar lessons- from my high school math teacher wanting lessons for his daughter, parents at church wanting lessons for their kids, and being recommended by my current students. All of the students that I currently have either watched me play live, or were told by word of mouth that I would be a good fit for them. I seem to keep getting students, so I thought extending my reach online might be a good move!
I've been a para educator for 6 years now. Working in public schools has helped me to assess what learning approach works the best for each individual student. It's amazing how many times I've met capable kids that just needed a more adaptable teacher.

I like to ask them what they already know, what kind of music that they like, if they have any favorite bands, etc. I also ask how they were taught in the past if they had a different teacher, and what they liked or didn't like about their teacher's methods. From there, I make an evaluation on their current skill level and what areas they need the most growth in.
Mainly middle school students, but I'm not opposed to any age.
