About Lacy D

I collect Renaissance, baroque, Classical, other variety guitar sheet music arrangements, anthologies and other works; and I practice improvising styles often; Which means sight reading/practicing happens nearly every day for me. I can produce a moderately competitive atmosphere with some people who get inspired to make attempts interpreting music literature. I am inspiring and informative in the 2 local choruses in which I sing a bass part. I have 2 associates degrees, a humanities bachelor's, and Ive been a guitarist for 35 years.

I love to play and also sing. I enjoy reading instrumental and vocal music. It improves my memory. It is great occupational/leisure work.

I began guitar lessons when I was 11. I've frequent practice/study of baroque, renaissance, classical guitar for 25 years; some thousands of hours. I completed a general humanities degree at Montclair state university in NJ. I finished most of a music Ed.degree and 20 years as an independent student. I've been a bass in local Ascension Catholic Church adult chorus for 3-4 years. I've been a volunteer Bass in Brevard Community chorus for approximately 8 years.

About the lesson

I guess selective listening would be a first step. The student must be inspired and appreciate before playing music.

I sing in a couple choruses with young through senior citizen peers/others. I'm just recently trying to get into teaching again. I have taught young adults, teens, and older people.

Variety is the best sense for appreciation. Music is a lot more splendid than people think it is. It is an awesome field. It can be intimidating on some levels. You would think it would be more intimidating for the beginner. Some say the opposite. When your world gets open to more understanding you begin to find that dragon. That's where it can get hairy.
