About Lawrence
Bill Sweeney is the director and owner of the Olympia Conservatory of Music. He was awarded the Sammy Hagar Les Paul from KZOK and American Music in 1983. He has taught music professionally since 1995. He was an adjunct faculty at South Puget Sound Community College (1 credit) , and the Evergreen State College (4 credits). He has taught at Westside Music, Yenney’s Music, Tumwater Music, and privately at the Pacific Center in Lacey as the Olympia Conservatory . He is considered a Master Teacher by Music and Arts ( precovid) and is presently under contract with Olympia and Tumwater Parks ComEd departments.
Bill teaches guitar based upon the Segovian method incorporating fingerstyle, ergonomics, sight reading, chord charts, tablature and studio charting.
He has played with Tommy Denton and the Kentuckians, Anita Rae and the Country Gentlemen, Sweeney’s All Beef Weenies, Banzai Dogs, Dark Angel, No Amnesty, Pump House Blues Band, Black Label and Don Barton Sr.
His original music bands include Abaddon, JusDefy, The Dudes, and Union with Cindy Garay.
He has performed fingerstyle/classical guitar locally at the Capitol Rotunda, Schmidt Mansion, Carriage House, Woodland Park, Sitka Convention Center, and the Washington Performing Arts Center in Olympia to name a few.
Bill is currently seeking private one on one students to teach in his private studio at his home in Lacey, fully equipped with audio gear and custom guitars.
