About Jason
At Jason's School of Music you will learn how to play by ear! Every song that I teach has been learned by ear by me, and that is my goal for my students. I am going to teach you how to be self sufficient when it comes to music so even when you don't have the internet to tell you how to play something you can still figure it out. All it takes is a little bit of basic music theory and a lot of ear training.
I always knew I loved playing music but I never considered teaching until I quit my "good job" of 5 years. I had taken all I could handle of the people and stressful situations and decided I would give teaching music a try. As it turns out I love teaching music! I discovered that I actually am a very good teacher and I love getting to influence other people's musical abilities. I already loved kids but now I have two of my biggest passions, music and kids, all rolled up into the best "job" I could have ever imagined.
I have played lead guitar in a very large and advanced church band for the past 17 years. I also do studio work on a smaller scale.

Each person learns at a different rate and is interested in different types of music. I make sure to taylor lessons to each individual student. We learn songs that the student chooses so lessons stay relevant and exciting.
I have had hundreds of students in my 5 years of teaching. I have worked with children as young as 3 years old all the way to adults in their 60s. Some students know nothing about music when they start. Others have taken lessons somewhere else, learning to read sheet music, and were not satisfied with that so they came to me to learn how to play by ear. I have put together multiple kid bands that have gone on to win nation competitions and who write their own music.
If you really want to be able to play by ear you absolutely can! Just start small. Maybe hum a note with your voice and see if you can find that same note on your instrument. That is exactly what you do when you learn a whole song by ear, just on a larger scale.
