About AJ

My name is AJ Hirsch and I am a professional guitar and piano instructor with over 10 years of teaching experience. I have been teaching guitar professionally since 2012 and I have developed a very high quality, engaging, and successful system for students of all ages and abilities. For each lesson I provide customized sheet music, tablature, chord charts, and practice material in mp3 and PDF formats. You also will be sent a private link to a sheet music player where you can slow down, speed up, loop sections, use a metronome, and several other features that can be highly beneficial to your practice using the pages I write for you. I also record each lesson and put all files in a shared dropbox folder that you can access at any time to ensure you have everything you need to practice during the week! If you don't know how to read sheet music, guitar tablature, or chord charts, don't worry! You will learn all of that and be able to pick it up very quickly!

I love seeing students learning their favorite songs, learning new skills and techniques and seeing the "light bulb" moment go off! So, if you are interested but are on the fence about taking lessons online I offer a FREE trial lesson so you can try before you buy. It is also a great way for me to access your current skill level and build a customized lesson plan moving forward.

I took lessons from a music store in my hometown, Columbus, Ga all 4 years that I was in highschool. Shortly before I graduated I was offered a teaching position and I have been teaching ever since!

10 years of teaching experience in various music stores in Georgia

2014 honors graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media

About the lesson

I offer a free 30 minute free lesson for new students so we can meet each other, and so I can learn what your goals are and where you are in your journey so that I can put together a personalized lesson plan to get you where you want to be. It's also a great time for the you to ask questions!

I have worked with students of all ages, skill levels, and genres!

In November of 2021, my band from highschool, Lost on Lemans, did a 10 year reuinion show at a venue back home in Columbus, ga and we sold it out with nearly 300 people in attendance!

AJ is a fantastic teacher, he explains things intuitively and very well. I have done five lessons with him so far and have definitely made strides in my music understanding.

We do remote lessons and it has been great -- we keep a shared folder of transcriptions and recorded lessons that I can refer to as I practice.

My background in piano was basically just Youtube tutorials. The difference between this and actual lessons is like night and day, I revisit those old Youtube videos and understand it much more deeply now.

Definitely recommend AJ!

AJ has been teaching my daughter guitar for the last few months. She loves to play and has improved tremendously since lessons began. Meeting via Zoom is so wonder because we don’t have travel time. Plus all the sessions are recorded to watch later. Thanks AJ for doing such a great job!

My daughter loves taking lessons with AJ. He has helped her develop her skills while playing the music that interests her and he really "gets" how to teach in an online format. Highly recommend!

My eight and nine year old sons absolutely enjoy their weekly lessons with AJ! Despite needing to be physically apart due to COVID, they’ve been able to learn both the guitar and piano because of his well planned lessons, and detailed follow up notes. He tailors each lesson to make sure the kids stay engaged while building on their skills. I would highly recommend AJ as a private music teacher.

Anna

AJ is great. He is very personable and easy for my kids to relate to even over an iPad screen which I think is a talent in itself! He is very patient with both my boys. He isn’t just a good music teacher (which he is a wonderful musician) but he makes my kids want to learn music because of the way he enjoys it. He is great and we (me and my kids!) highly recommend him.
