About Ed
My teaching approach: Briefly, I have years of professional performing experience (since 1966) in a variety of situations. Also, I have years of teaching experience. I was a fulltime instructor at Musician's Institute (GIT) from 1985 until 2017. I offer live video chat classes on the internet in addition to live lessons at my studio. My guitar lessons take place in: Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: In my home studio live and in person or anywhere there is a computer, a webcam and a high speed internet connection. Guitar Techniques: Song Writing, Recording and Production, Scales, Chords and Exercises, Music Theory, Ear Training, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Improvisation, Performance, Vocal Accompaniment, Fingerpicking, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar.
I love music and I love playing the guitar. I get great satisfaction from performing music with other musicians on various music projects whether it be live or recorded.
I feel very proud of students who have studied with me and have advanced their own musical skills. Some have gone on to be quite successful in their careers.
In the very beginning at the requests of people that would see me in performances. It was very casual and involved teaching songs or licks. I hired on at Musicians Institute in September 1985 as a fulltime guitar, reading, theory, and ear training instructor after several months working there as a substitute instructor.
Four years of college as a music major. Fifty one years of experience onstage and in studios as a professional working guitarist. Thirty two years as a fulltime professional music educator in the classroom, live performance stage, and private lessons.

First I like to find out what the student wants to accomplish and in what time frame the student expects to reach that goal.
Mostly adults from all over the world. Some want to learn songs and licks by rote. Some want to learn musicianship and the academics involved in that endeavor. I'm prepared to teach to either preference.
Outline your priorities and goals as a guitarist. Be prepared to dedicate time and care to your practice routine on a daily basis. Be patient with yourself. A person can get good at anything if they practice it enough and in the right way.
