Some years ago, it was necessary for me to care for my mother as she was recovering from a cancer related surgery. This forced me to cancel many gigs, and a biannual performances in Nashville. During this time I began offering lessons, which I enjoyed and have continued to do.

I've been fortunate to have played and recorded with several exceptional studio guitarists, especially while in Nashville.

The "Nashville Method" allows you to play along with Country, Blues, and Rock, without reading music.

At 14, I was given an electric guitar and classic Fender amp. I began learning to play it, primarily from books and playing along with albums. I took some lessons to learn how to read music after hearing that a new music teacher was starting a high school Jazz Band. I auditioned and became the school's first guitar player.

Lessons were helpful, but I didn't want to spend my time reading music, I wanted to play Blues, Classic Rock, Blues, and write songs. I learned a lot by watching and listening to the 2 guitarists from a popular local band. They let me watch, and eventually set in, while they rehearsed. When one moved away, I was asked to replace him. At 17, I had become a professional musician.

However, what I consider as the actual start of my career in music began 2 years later, when a band I'd established began performing at large venues in Hampton, NH and Boston, MA. We quickly had a large following and began performing with nationally known bands.

At 24, Boston based, "Lobster Records" offered me a two album contract. Unfortunately, they didn't want me to record or tour with the other members of my band. Instead, they insisted on having studio musicians nearly twice my age with me, in the studio and on the road. This is something that often happens in the industry, famously John (Cougar) Mellencamp brought his original band back with him once he became an established star.

For over 35 years, I've been a professional, Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Publisher, and Event Organizer.

I offer FREE FIRST LESSONS, and do not time them, we stay at it until the student fully understands the lesson goal with no additional charge.

About the lesson

I structure lessons based on how a student wishes to learn rather than using a one fits all approach. The process should be enjoyable from the start - not a chore. That's not to say it doesn't take work - anything worth learning does, but it can and should be fun.

Do you want to learn to play rythym, lead or to play & sing? Previous experience (if any) is taken into consideration, however, most important is that students enjoy the learning process from the start. There are countless methods of learning, finding (or developing) the ideal is of utmost importance. It usually takes a willingness to stick with it for up to 3 months to discover if the passion to play is really within someone.

I've helped several people learn to play and sing, around a campfire with friends or professionally as a career.

A "Magic Moment" strikes when a person discovers they ARE guitar players, from there the sky's the limit.

Primarily adults who have tried to learn how to play but recognized that they needed help. However, I've also worked with young beginners and I've developed plans for both types of students.

My lessons start at just $20 for 30 minutes, and I develop lesson plans based on what kind of music students want to learn to play.

I'm now incorporating lessons held online via ZOOM - these start at just $15

In general, I don't schedule lessons back to back, which could easily make them seem rushed. I'd rather give free additional time to ensure the goal of the lesson is fully comprehended.
