About Michael

My name is Mike Zampi and I teach music instruction via ZOOM and in Columbia and Severna Park MD in Acoustic, Electric, Instrumental, Folk, Open Tunings, Jazz, Lead, Blues, and Rock guitar.

During the Covid-19 virus I will be teaching lessons virtually via Zoom only. Please ask me about senior citizen group lesson rates. Retirement is a great time to try something new! 😄

I also teach bass, drums, percussion, steel drums, ukele, vocals, lyric writing, production, engineering, and songwriting.

I've been teaching music instruction for 30 years and my goal is turn each student into a musician by reading music, understanding note values, and learning the art of playing by ear. I have been a professional musician for 46 years and have released seven personal CDs and two DVDs. I have also produced and engineered 100's of regional musicians through the years in my recording studio.

My services are very unique because I teach each one of my guitar, steel drums, uke, and bass students how to count music by way of a few drum lessons. This helps immensely in their understanding of note values and they also learn how to keep better time so that the student will perform tighter with other musicians when they are playing their instrument of choice in a band. The diversity in learning different instruments is also very valuable.

The other approach I utilize is in that I record each student in my recording studio so that they can hear their progress month after month, plus they walk away with a CD of songs they've worked on, or created with my guidance. The student will also acquire recording-studio skills in which no one else offers.

I charge only $35/half hour onsite in my Columbia, MD studio. I recommend that students come for lessons once a week. The one-on-one time is invaluable so that the student gets the knowledge and the time to gain the musical depth. During the Covid-19 virus I will be teaching lessons virtually via Zoom.

My recording studio and approach to music lessons is very easy going yet focused, and the 800 square foot environment is very comfortable and laid back so the student will absorb more and have fun learning. I really believe that if the process is fun the student will practice more and will have this skill the rest of their lives. Parents are always encouraged to stay and listen. You will enjoy the process as your children grow!

Ages 5-78. People of all backgrounds as well as physically and mentally challenged students. Home schooled.

Learn as much theory as possible, and learn how to count music by taking some drum lessons.

Going to concerts and enjoying their creativity and talents.
