About Ryan
Hello,
My name is Ryan Erwin. I am a native of San Diego, California and I currently reside, perform and teach in Baton Rouge. I graduated from San Diego State Univesrity in 2013 with a degree in Music Composition and Recording Arts. I have been playing guitar, bass and piano for 20 years and have been playing uke and madiolin for 10 years. Music is my greatest passion in life and I have spent most of my professional time in the studio, being a producer and engineer for bands and artists, touring nationally with successful bands such as Small City Calling (San Diego) and Particle Devotion (Baton Rouge).
Since moving to Baton Rouge in 2015 to work at Baton Rouge Music Studios, I have branched out and become invested in teaching locally. I currently have 5 families and 10 students that I work with weekly, ranging from novice to advanced. I specialize in music theory, arrangment and production. Technology is an intergrated part of the music industry today, and it is my goal to provide professional tips and tricks to students of all levels in order to maximize their potential as artists in a digital world.
I reccomend my services to anyone who wants to learn how to write, record and release their songs or anyone who just wants to pick up an instrument and learn. No expierence neccessary! I look forward to sharing my musical expierences and knowledge with you!

Music is good for the soul, no doubt about it. It is extemely rewarding to pass along the torch of musical awesomeness to others, as it was passed to me many years ago. There is something magical about learning music and I whole-heartedly believe that sharing that magic is the best way to spend my time.
Getting to do what I love and getting others to love it too is what teaching is all about. Music is a great source of happiness and therapy for all!
I began teaching lessons at Delirious Records in San Diego, CA in 2011, while I was finishing music school at San Diego State.
I began teaching all levels of students, advacned guitar & recording lessons down to introductory music classes for toddlers.
I continued teaching through guitar center in San Marcos, CA before accepting a job to teach and produce music at Baton Rouge Music Studios in 2015 under Douglas Gay, who still runs the Baton Rouge Lesson Space.
I began taking guitar and piano lessons as early as 9 years old, played trombone in middle school and highschool band before going to San Diego State University to study Music Composition and Recording Arts with Dr. Joseph Waters in the universities Electro-Acoustic Music Comp. program.
I began songwriting and making my own albums in 2006 and have since released dozens of records for myself, bands I have been in and other artists from mulitiple cities.
I have worked as a producer/engineer and songwriter for studios in San Diego and Baton Rouge. Currenlty, I operate a home studio space and work with local students and professional bands in town doing everything from lessons to professional recording projects.
My most recent record (done with BR locals, Particle Devotion) was featured on NPR as was Particle Devotion an offial artist at South By SouthWest in Austiin, Texas in 2017 & 2018.

Everyone learns differently. Some methods that work with one person, may not for another. The trick is finding out HOW the student learns and designing special excersizes and routines that cater to the students learning style.
Lesson one is usually spent talking about what the students personal goals and expierences are, what/who their main musical influences are and what is most exciting to them about their instruement or desired skilset. This will help me, the instructior, design a more personal lesson expience based on the students passions and goals.
All levels from beginner to advanced.
Lessons I offer:
Guitar, Bass, Piano, Uke, Mandolin, Music Theory, Composition, Recording (logic pro) and Pop/Rock/Folk/Metal vocal lessons.
Bring me your ideas! I want to hear about what you are listening to, what makes you stoked on music, and if you have original songs, or licks - lets use them in our lessons!
Help me help you get those ideas out of your head and into the world!
In march of 2018, the band I played in and produced for (Particle Devotion) was an official artist at South by South West (SXSW). We spent two weeks in Austin, Texas followed by a month on the road in support of the album we released this year.
It was a wonderful expirence as a real life, professional musician and a glimpse, for me, into my desired future.
