Want to Learn how to play anything under the sun? Trapped in a creative block and need help getting out? Do you feel like you're stuck in a single genre or writing style that just isn't what your heart or mind is satisfied with? Royal Hall music lessons aim to inspire you to leap into a fresh and open mindset. My lessons are designed not only to improve your technical skills but to open your mind to new conceptual ideas to get around nasty creative road blocks.

When i was first starting out my teachers never explained to me how to rid myself of the anxieties that come with playing an instrument and therefore struggled for many years to fully realize my potential as an artist. Now in my early twenties, I have devised a few different techniques and ideas to help young artsist and musicians overcome their anxieties about playing in front of people, loving the act of practicing and loving themselves as they endure the struggles that come with starting a new creative feat. Everyone stinks in the beginning. Not one person who started playing an instrument was good off the bat, not in the way you may think. I aim to break those walls and preconcieved notions of talent and replace them with dedication and love for the art of making music.

I enjoy giving people of all ages the tools they desire to express themselves in whatever creative endeavor they choose. Opening the minds of people young and old in order to help further their creative journey. I love seeing young kids, especially children, progress and achieve their creative goals. Some of my students who started a few years ago have already gone on to work with Amazing musicians or have started their own musical projects.

While I was in highschool I would teach friends of mine who weren't well versed in the guitar. When I moved to North Carolina I began teaching at Guitar Center. After coming back to Chicago, I began teaching Free-lance. Since the pandemic the majority of my lessons have moved online where I now stay.

I was trained by Classical guitarist Tomas Clippart and jazz saxophonist Anthony Bruno at the Chicago Highshool for the Arts. I also taught at Guitar Center for 4 years.

About the lesson

The first lessons is an evaluation of where they are and in the moment, where they'd like to be. When a student in brand new to an instrument I make it paramount that they understand the physical demands of the guitar first. You need to build up your calluses on the tips of your fingers and the only way to to do that is to play. Their practice begins here with basic chord shapes and the genral mechanical functions of the guitar such as the various parts of the guitar, how to tune the guitar and with that the names of the strings.

I've worked with all kinds of students from a five year old who was in love with Megadeth and Metallica to an 80 year old man who wanted to just play some hymns in church. There is no student who can't learn something new and beautiful.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The first thing students should know or question is what kind of music they like and what kind of music they don't like. Knowing what you like is the biggest step in learning where your interests lie. What do listen to right now? Why don't I like this kind of music over the one I listen to right now?

They should challenge themselves as well and listen to music they may not be familiar with from genres that may be foreign to them. What music havn't I listened to yet and would I be insterested in playing something different?

These are some question for students to ponder before hiring any teacher.

Details

My pricing comes in two forms. For 100 dollars a month, You get 4 half hour lessons within the month preferable on a consistant day and time of the week. The other option is Individual Lessons at 30 dollars for 45 minutes.
