About Parker

I am a dedicated, diligent educator and performer with a passion for excellence and progress. With vast experience on the stage and working with students, I love to share what I have learned with curious minds.

I hold a master's degree in guitar pedagogy and have been teaching privately for 13 years. I cover many specialties including jazz, pop, rock, metal, blues, composition, and improvisation.

I have performed music all over the country and world. Music is a wonderful tool for building community and stimulating the mind. Let's get you to the next level!

I love working with students of all skill levels. Each stage of the learning process presents unqiue challenges and I am deeply interested in tailoring a path for individuals, rather than going through a strict curriculum.

People in my community started expressing an interest in taking lessons with me, and I decided to pursue it. I enjoyed the process and have spent a lot of time honing my craft via practice and formal education.

I have been teaching privately for 12 years, and have a lot of experience in working with classrooms as well.

Additionally, I hold a master's degree in guitar performance and studied under one the premier guitar pedagogues in the world, Corey Christiansen.

I have over 10 years of professional performance experience and know how to apply the principles that are being taught in a practical way.

About the lesson

In my first meeting, I like to discuss goals and musical interests. Depending on the existing skill level and what the student has in mind, we work together to evaluate where gaps need to be filled and discuss a road map for getting them where they want to be. While this may evolve along the way, it gives both the instructor and the student a mutual idea of how things are being approached.

I have worked with students of all skill levels ranging from beginner to highly advanced. I typically work with adolescent and adult students.

I believe it is important for the teacher to listen to the student's desires as much as it is for the student to trust their teacher's counsel. This sort of understanding makes lessons productive and fulfilling for both parties.

Details

Depending on the skill level and goals of the student, I will do either 30 or 60 minute lessons. My going rate is $40/half hour and $80/hr.
