About the lesson

I like to have students grade themselves regarding their level of understanding or experience and then ask specifics about their thought processes on how they graded themselves. This type of open ended discussion reveals a lot about experience and knowledge of the student and helps prevent re-hashing learned materials. I like to ask what they believe to be their end-goals.

I work with adult students who range from beginner to intermediate and ocassional advanced student.

I would say don't ask for free lessons and don't try to manipulate a teacher into doing your homework. It's disrespectful to ask someone to work hard for no payment. If someone esle does your homework you won't pass your evaulations.

i was a graphics consultant, working as a volunteer, for the NO Child Left Behind program. I collaborated with educators creating illustrations used as reading prompts that helped over 600 students improve their fundamental reading skills within a single school year. Noteably, I helped educators reach hard-to-engage students who showed the most improvement in their reading abilities through this program.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should get an idea of availabilty of a teacher so that they can find one who aligns with their own availability. Students should also clarify payment rates as well as finding out what effort teachers expect from a student. Students should also discuss their learning method(s) with a teacher to find out if their method(s) of learning can be accomodated.
