About Sara
I started tutoring as a volunteer in highschool and started taking paid gigs in college. I am now a full time paraprofessional working with Special Needs. I tutor frequently all year around. I am fluent in English and American Sign Language. Along with my tutoring experience, I also have been an interpreter for 4 years and recently received associates degree. I am passionate about helping students be the best they can be.
As a tutor, I am able to get deep into the process that teachers are often not able to see. I enjoy seeing the “lightbulb” when a student finally understands something. Being able to give students tools that will help them not only with English but with solving other problems as well is a gift and a passion. It’s all about the students.
During middle school and highschool, I always excelled as a student and other students looked to me for assistance. That is how it began and spurred my passion for helping students do their best.
I have 5 years of working as a tutor. My full time job is a paraprofessional and interpreter. I am fluent in American Sign Language and English. Along with my full time job, I tutor throughout the year on various subjects. However, my favorite is English.

When introduced to a new student, I like to get to know them first. The first session will be relaxed- just chatting and finding out if we will be compatible. Basically, making sure we can stand each other and be around each other. I often offer the first session at no cost, depending on the needs and intents of the student.
I have worked with students from 1st grade to highschool often. Every so often, I have assisted undergraduate students with their studies but only in my subject of expertise- ASL and Interpreting. Students with learning disabilities and/or Special Needs are my specialty and greatest passion.

Details
I typically charge per session, but have made some exceptions. If the student plans to be long-term, such as a full year or full semester, I would charge one flat rate or per month. If the student just needs tutoring temporarily, I may charge per session or per hour. I try to be fair and flexible in my prices.
