About Mary
I am a composer. I've recently graduated in music composition and creative music media at Georgia College & State University and am soon to begin my studies at Peabody conservatory in fall of 2021. I've been a musician since I was was big enough to walk (piano in kindergarten, violin in 5th grade, French horn in 6th grade, guitar in 7th grade, trumpet in 11th grade, and percussion in junior year of college). I began to dabble with composing in middle school, and then in college I took off with official studies. I've often tutored my younger classmates in their playing and writing, and I plan on taking up teaching in schools when I finish my degree.
In teaching any creative process, the learning is always a two-way street, especially when the student is inexperienced, as they tend to have ideas that "break the rules" and spark a new way of thinking. I've always loved learning, and if I were able, I'd stay in school forever, but I also love to teach and share that learning experience with others!
