About Frank

Fishing is an absolute passion of mine. I have been fishing the waters in and around Cape May County all my life. I surf fish, fish from the sod banks and bridges, and of course, from my boat. I love sharing my passion for fishing with others, teaching them the various techniques that can be employed to catch their desired species. As a teacher of 27 years I have the necessary skills to get the finer points across and teach in ways that are understandable and effective. If you want to know more about fishing, or maybe try a new way of fishing, I can help you with that. And would be very happy to do so!

Actual teaching, I took a semester off from college and did a long term substitute job as a PE teacher at a friends request. I fell in love.

As a fisherman, I have my father to thank. He took me along on his fishing outings and as I gained knowledge and skill I ventured out on my own.

About the lesson

I show them how to handle the various rigs and equipment being used. I also explain everything as we go along. It's completely hands on with me guiding client through the process.

I have taught grade levels from kindergarten through seniors in high school. I have also taught adults when I used to teach the NJ Boating Safety course.

I have dealt with students with a variety of learning disabilities, including ADHD, Downs Syndrome, autism, and traumatic brain injury.

I have taught people who have never held a fishing rod in their lives to fish and cast. I have the skills and knowledge, and I am very proficient in transferring that to my clients/students.

Ask questions. Don't base your decision on price alone. Call around to see what c=various guides have to say about the current fishing conditions. Understand that the price includes gear that costs a lot of money, upkeep on that gear, and supplies to assist in your overall experience.

Last year I ran several surf trips on a particular beach in Cape May. Each time a little boy and his grandmother would happen by while exploring the beach for 'treasures'. The little guy's name is Cooper. He always stopped by to say hello and check out the cooler to see what we were catching that day. A few times while he was there a rod would bend over with a fish and I would allow him to reel it in. Cooper had never fished before, and he was fascinated by it. Toward the end of the summer his grandmother called me to ask if I would host Coopers birthday party on the beach. She told me how he asked to look for me on the beach daily, and was so proud of the fish he had reeled in. I happily agreed to host the party. I met Cooper and his family on the beach at 6:30 on the day of his birthday. I brought him a rod and reel for his gift. I then spent the morning teaching him, his grandparents, mother, and sister how to cast, bait hooks, look at the water to find structure, bait, and possible fish holding areas. By the end of our time together I had the entire family hooked on fishing, and most of them could cast a rod with a fair degree of accuracy. It was one of those days that is good for the soul. And Cooper was a very happy little boy, who now has his own fishing rod to ply the surf with.

Know what it is you'd like to learn. Ask all the questions you feel you want an answer to. Don't be shy about it either. There are no stupid questions, only the ones you left unanswered because you didn't ask.

The time and effort the Capt’n puts in .
Always prepared for the day out on the boat or on the beach. Plans are always subject to change when the day starts, but the adjustment on the fly from Capt’n Frank are spot on. Fished with him several times always a time had by all.
