About Gurpreet

I'm Gurpreet Cowles, a Lead Teacher in a Secondary School Maths department with NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathetmatics) accreditation for delivering professional development to drive up standards of teachers.
I am enthusiastic about helping learners to learn more effectively, and this can different for many people.

Some people learn better with diagrams to visually model a concept, whilst others learn through using variation theory to draw links between existing nuggets of knowledge in their memory.
However you learn best, I am confident that we can effectively come up with a plan that works for you to help you feel more confident and fluent in the topics you need to work on, to get you to where you need to be.

About the lesson

I teach students using a variety of proven and research led strategies to help students retain information and develop a depth of understanding to be able to apply their skills when tackling mathematics.

Over an hour, I will assess methods used, identify areas of strengths and gaps in knowledge and work to create a tailored plan to address these.

As an experienced teacher with a passion for improving educational outcomes and an appreciation for how learners learn, how the brain works and how memory works, I am confident that you will see results straight away.

I design my lessons to engage learners and help them develop and use tools to strategically work on maths problems to succeed, and will always tailor tuition to the specific needs of the student.
