About Eliza

I have a BA in English literature as well as three years of experience tutoring writing at a college level. I have been trained to work with ESL clients as well as online clients. I am very flexible with meeting online synchronously and asynchronously.

I began tutoring at a college writing level while still in high school and this continued into my college years. While at Purdue University, I joined the Writing Lab as an undergraduate tutor and kept this job for the following three years of school.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, as well as a Bachelor of Science in human services. I have worked at two college writing centers. During my three years with the Purdue Writing Lab, I was trained to work with ESL clients and online clients. In addition, I am a contributor to the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL).

About the lesson

I like to hear what you hope to accomplish long-term, but also session to session. I like to set fair expectations of each other at the beginning of the tutoring relationship. Overall, this can happen in a matter of two minutes or even one email.

I have lots of experience working with college-level writers, primarily freshmen transitioning from high school levels to college expectations. Many of my clients were ESL (English as a Second Language) students, so I am skilled in understanding the differences in these students' writing. Types of documents I have tutored include job documents, scholarship essays, research articles, dissertations, analysis essays, argumentative essays, creative writing, graduate theses, etc.

Look for someone who will pay attention to your growth as a writer. Help on one document is lovely, but a great tutor builds your skills so that at the end of your session or semester, you are a better writer.

Details

I charge differently based on synchronous or asynchronous options.

If you would like to work on a document at the same time the rate is $20/hr. My sessions are typically 30 or 60 minutes long.

If you would like to work asynchronously, where you submit a document and I send my comments back, my rate is $20 flat for documents under 1800 words. More than 1800 words will be decided on a case by case basis.
