About Wilhamina

Hello!

So nice to meet you!

I would love to tell you more about myself so that you will definitely hire me.

Currently, I am an ESL Instructor for Weatherford ISD’s Adult Education program, and a

reading specialist for Reading Connection/Literacy United, a non-profit organization that

provides intervention services for Title 1 schools in Fort Worth Texas. In addition, I am an

independent contractor for VIPKID China’s most popular and exclusive ESL company, a

reading tutor for Booknook, a private tutor for several ESL students located in China, and a

stay-at-home mom to a very active toddler. It is my dream to one day write a children's

book using his antics as my plot. As a parent and an educator, I am very passionate about

reading and the positive impact it has on the academic success of learners which is why I

dedicate so much of my time to it. I am a proud military spouse to a retired Airforce

veteran, and I was honored to support families at military-affiliated child development

centers located in Japan, California, and Texas for more than a decade. I am an advocate for

universal early childhood education and have witnessed the positive impact it has made on

students’ learning during my time working for the military.

In closing, I would like to state that I am fully aware of the many challenges education faces

due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Learners today struggle with fundamental skills in reading

and math, mental health issues, and low self-esteem. And that is just the tip of the ice burg.

As an educator, I understand that these obstacles are detrimental to their future success. I will work hard to ensure that

they are meeting their learning goals by utilizing innovative teaching methods such as

learning technology tools and resources. I will also strive to meet their individual needs by

becoming familiar with their learning style, cultural background, and personality. No two

learners are alike; therefore, teachers should adapt to meet their needs so that they will be

successful. It

is my goal to help them overcome these hardships so that they will feel more confident and

focused on their learning. Thank you for this opportunity. I look forward to seeing you or your child in my classroom soon!
