About Jeana

I have been a substitute teacher and tutor for 2 years in Arkansas. Due to recent school closures, I want to help students learn from home and master their subjects. I am an avid writer and currently hold over 60+ college hours in sciences courses, mainly Biology and Chemistry.

My goal is to explain concepts in a way that students understand. We all learn in different ways. Hearing a concept explained in a new way is extremely beneficial to students. Along with lectures, I create practice tests, Quizlets, and study guides to ensure that they will do the best they can in class.

That moment when you finally understand something, your face lights up. That is the moment that makes my work amazing. I have worked with students for hours, over multiple days, even once a week for a whole semester, and I never get worn out trying to help them figure out a concept.

I love finding new ways to get information across. Maybe you or your student don't like chemistry. Maybe you hate it, you think it's boring, or you just know that you'll never understand dimensional analysis. I want to prove you wrong. I want to help work with you until you understand chemistry. Maybe you'll never love dimensional analysis as much as I do, but I'll make sure you know how to complete the problems.

About the lesson

We first have a discussion of what difficulties the student is facing. Are they having issues with structuring an essay, or figuring out where to even start? Are they struggling to apply math concepts or understand word problems?

I also like to talk to the students about what they enjoy. Knowing what subjects they like, what they want to learn, and what they want to do in life helps me find ways of explaining concepts that connect with them.

Once we discuss these basics, I talk the students through their coursework. For an essay, I would start by discussing how essays should be structured. I would then outline an example essay for them. Once we talk through the coursework, it is time for them to try themselves. I would allow the student to try to outline their own essay or do an example problem. From there we can continue to work towards them mastering the subject.
