About Christina

Hello! I am very passionate about education, and have worked with Teach For America in New Mexico. After teaching Middle and Highschool English and Test Prep (for SAT/ACT), I have moved back to Pennsylvania for Grad. School.

Additionally, I have tutored at an inner-city tutoring program in Pittsburgh, PA as well as tutored at the college level at Bucks County Community College for 3 years.

I have experince working with a variety of students with different academic needs, and students have shown high levels of growth, especially in the areas of reading and writing. I was named teacher of the month at my current school site, and voted teacher of the year by my students in 2018-2019.

I graduated from Temple University Summa Cum Laude in Strategic Communication, and have taken 18 credits at the graduate level for Education with Western New Mexico University.

I love supporting students and watching them grow!

I love supporting students, so that they can work to the best of their ability. It is my belief that most school work is a skill- and teaching students a set of skills in order to create and master concepts on their own is exciting! I want kids to have their own efficacy, a belief that they can meet challenges and succeed!

I was a Teach For America teacher, and so I spent summer teaching students in a trainging program on the Gila River. Afterwards, I taught for 3 years in New Mexico at both the Middle and Highschool level.

During my time teaching, I also taught SAT/ACT courses. One program ran duirng the weekend, the other, during the school week.

Previously, I tutored professionally at Bucks County Community College for 3 years. I volunteered and tutored elementary aged students through a non profit program in Pittsburgh for one year.

About the lesson

When working with new students, I first like to find out their learning style (visual, auditory, kinestheic, etc.) by asking the student a few questions. I also want to find out some of their interests, so I can relate examples that include topics they enjoy or know about!

Next, its good to figure out what students already know, and what they want to set their goal for. By the end, I like to access our progress towards that goal together.
