About Stacia
With my experience, students can feel at ease and reassured they will accomplish something concrete and useable in each session. I am a good listener and know how to guide the student without taking over. The student remains the author and thinker driving the work.
I work with adults of all ages and levels of writers and bring with me a positive, forward, dynamic energy which I intend to be contagious! My goal is for my student/client to leave the session knowing what to do next and want to get right to finishing the next step(s)in the process.
I have a B.A. in English from the University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas and an M.F.A. In Critical Studies/Creative Writing from California Institute of the Arts. I have taught various levels of writing classes in the Los Angeles College District and Lone Star College Montgomery in addition to being an online writing consultant at National University since 2002.

I like to ask students what they think their biggest challenge is as a writer, what they want to focus on. If they are not working on a particular piece of writing, I ask for a writing sample or I will give a prompt to write a paragraph or two for assessment purposes. If a student wants help with an assignment/project, I will ask questions about where they are in their writing process and then help in the most impactful way given the goals of the student for the session. The student is in the driver's seat.
