About Meg

My tutoring style stands out because I care about sharing an upbeat connection with the student. The way I accentuate the positive helps the student identify their strengths. I share excitement about learning and progress with the student. Having as much fun as we can while we learn together is a priority.

I really enjoy working in a learning environment. I am grateful to be able to boost self confidence while improving academic skills.

When a school across the street from where I worked at and environmental magazine needed a creative writing teacher.

I currently guide a monthly writing class for NextVillageSF.org

I have taught middle school creative writing, I previously tutored in language arts. I have also tutored middle school student and high schoolers in their home setting.

I was a public radio programmer (DJ) KVNF-FM for 18 years which really boosted my confidence in public speaking and clarity of communication. kvnf.org

About the lesson

Finding out what brings that student JOY and how we can have fun in our session. Asking the student where he/she/they feel they most need help.

I have worked with students who needed extra help after school in a community houseing project. I have taught in small private schools in Colorado leading creative writing classes, and with younger learners in a small primary classroom.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What will success look like, feel like?

In what subjects or skill areas do I feel confident and capable ?

Which are the avenues of expression or areas of study that seem challenging and for which I would appreciate some support.
