I spend some time building a connection with the student/figuring out their learning style and then find ways to make the learning experience both engaging and productive for the student.
I have worked with younger students mostly when I used to teach piano, but I have also taught older teens so I am comfortable with a wide range of students.
I would tell them to look for a teacher who is confident in their job as well as passionate about it.
