About JAZMIN

I take the daunting task of rounding up boundless ideas in the mind, and make them into cohertent, understandable essays. While other tutors may teach writing's "do's" and "don'ts", I teach HOW to write and control the English language. Furthermore, my lessons can be applied not only to English essays, but for essays in history, science, and any other class where students write essays.

I enjoy the sense of fulfilment that comes from improving someone's ability to communicate effectively. A lack of communication, understanding, and knowledge leads to major problems in the world, so helping people learn to do these skills to the best of their abilities gives me much joy.

I got into teaching when I started babysitting children, and the children were struggling with their homework. When I started helping the children with homework, and saw their grades improve, I realized I had a talent for teaching. When I got into college and realized that my skills learned while babysitting were also helpful for college students, I began working as a tutor.

I am a college student at Georgia State University majoring in English. I received an A in English Compostition 1 and 2. I have tutored English at Georgia State University for a year. Additionally, I have been a babysitter for 4 years and help many children aged 5-15 with homework.

About the lesson

When I get a new student I typically ask to see the last essay the student wrote, so I can know the strong points and the parts that need improvement in the writing. Next I try to understand the student themselves by asking their thought before, during, and after the write an essay. Once I break down the problem, I start to explain the solution. Afterwards, we practice until the student's writing is great.

I have worked with students of ages 5 to 95. Mainly students of English, but also students of techonology, history, and science.

When you look for someone to teach you, make sure that you can understand that teacher. Part of what makes english so fun is that there are many ways to say the same thing. So make sure you find a teacher that can say the information you need to learn in a way you truly understand.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should just talk to teachers with the mindset, I want to get better, and I am going to try to get better. From there the most helpful questions such as "What is my problem in this subject?" and "What are the solutions to this problem?" will form.
