About Amanda

I am extremely patient and flexible. I have experience teaching a wide range of students with different abilities and backgrounds. If one approach isn't working, I will always adjust. I believe in working with my students as a team!

I love teaching students of all ages - and my favorite moment is seeing the look of pride and accomplishment in my students' faces when they are able to understand and accomplish things they didn't believe they could.

I studied English Literature and Creative writing at George Mason University and work for Fluvanna County Public Schools. Before doing so, I worked at the Writing Lab for GMU to assist students with their essays.

I have been published in several journals including the Writer's Digest.

My experience with children ranges from fifth grade through undergraduate.

About the lesson

First we'll access where the student is in the relevant subject, and the level of understanding. Then, I will evaluate the learning style that best suits that student and adapt my tutoring approach.

During the sessions, I'll periodically check for comprehension, and readjust when necessary. I'm very patient, and will work at the student's pace.
