About Angela

As an educator with over twenty years of teaching and tutoring experience, I provide a high level of assistance to students of all ages. My areas of specialty include English Language Arts, Social Studies, History, and more.

I love helping students to have confidence in their learning, while enjoying the process. I do my best to take the drudgery out of skills practice and make it fun for both of us! It's gratifying to see my students progress and to help them see their own development.

I started teaching in early childhood programs as an assistant during my first year of college, and loved it. I come from a family of educators, including my mother, father, and grandmother, so I guess it's in the genes! ;)

I have been an educator for over twenty years, working with elementary and secondary school students in classrooms and individually. I have taught many different subject areas, with students of all skill levels. One of my strengths is building positive relationships with students, which enables them to learn and grow with more trust and confidence.

About the lesson

I spend some time getting to know my new students; finding out what their interests are such as music, sports, travel, etc.

I talk with them about their studies; what they'd like to acheive, what troubles them about it. I then devise what I hope are enjoyable approaches to their skills work, based on my indivual observation of their needs and interests.

I have worked with students of all age groups, literally from Kindergarten to young adults in Job Corps. I have worked with students applying for college, as well as English Language Learners who were first generation students to this country.

I recently worked with a middle school student who struggles with spelling. While working with him at a local library, I discoverd that the library had a Scrabble game available to patrons. The student and I both enjoyed using the Scrabble pieces to form his spelling words. This was a fun, tactile way to help him improve his spelling!
